Friday I'm In Love

Outfit Details- Top- Charlotte Russe // Pants- Lovesick // Shoes- Marc Fisher // Bag- Thrifted

I love Fridays! I don't mind any other day of the week, but there is just something special about Friday. Today was a busy one too! I woke up, and went on walk. This week, I have been waking up early and going on 3 mile walks in the morning. It's a really great way to start the day! Also, waking up early makes the day feel so much longer and so much more productive. By the end of the day, I am exhausted and ready to catch all the Zzz's that exist! This is a bit different than my insomniac ways of last week. I hope to make this a habit!

Today I went out did some preparing for this weekend's events. I have two nephew's birthdays to celebrate this weekend, and I was on the search for their gifts. We have lots of family time planned this weekend, and I am really looking forward to it! Kids are the funnest to celebrate! Their reactions to gifts are the cutest thing too! Can't wait to see these little guy's faces when they see what they got for their birthdays!

It seems like my Friday ritual these days has been wearing black and white! Well today I decided to add a little pop of color in the mix. I love colored denim! Since it's spring, I will be on the search for pastel colored pants. I only have mint, but I would love a lavender pair! I also added a pair of booties that I hardly wear to my outfit today. I usually wear these shoes with dressy outfits, but I thought out of the box today and gave them a try with a casual outfit. In the words of Tim Gunn, Make it work!

I hope you all have a lovely weekend and happy Easter to you all! ♥

Weekday Uniform

Outfit Details: Top- Forever 21 // Jeans- Lovesick // Necklace- c/o Scarlett Garnet // Boots- Franco Sarto // Bag- Thrifted

Monday through Friday you can find me in a slouchy top and a pair of jeans. This is what I call my weekday day uniform. Today I fancied it up with this pair of heeled booties and a my favorite Scarlett Garnet necklace. There was a time when the only thing I wore was skirts and dresses, and I still wear them a lot but I've given pants a chance. It really helps when you find a pair of pants that you love. I'm a little bit on the short side (I'm 5'2") so finding a pair of jeans that isn't too long can be a difficult task. However, these are the perfect length for me! So I went and bought them in different colors! I am guilty of doing this with quite a few things. If I really love something, I go and buy it in every color. Can't go wrong with that!

While I was outside, I couldn't help but snap some photos of the pretty flowers that Spring brought me. All the trees are covered in flowers, the birds are chirping away, and I can leave the windows open all day. I'm enjoying everything about Spring just like I knew I would.

Lazy Sunday

Outfit Details: Cardigan- J.Crew // Shirt- Forever 21 // Skirt- H&M // Tights- Target // Shoes- Franco Sarto

My weekend was wonderfully lazy! I spent most of it laying on my couch watching cheesy shows on Animal planet and snacking on sour candy. It was the best. However, today I did have take a break from being lazy to go outside. It was beautiful out so Jon and I decided to go on a long walk around the neighborhood with Rigby. I get allergies really bad during this season, but I enjoy looking at all the beautiful trees and flowers during this season. So I took a Zyrtec, and off we went! Everyone was outside today too, which was so nice. Today was the epitome of Spring!

When we came home, we treated Rigby to a bath. He didn't think it was much of a treat though! Rigby is scared of bathrooms because he hates baths! It's so funny because he follows Jon all over the house, but he will NOT walk into a bathroom. As soon as Jon walked into the bathroom, Rigby wanted out of the house. He went up to the sliding door, and started scratching it. It was hilarious and adorable!

Here are the results of his bath! Bet you can even smell them! Fresh, clean, and fluffy as can be. He spent the rest of the afternoon rolling all over the floor trying to come back to his normal dirty self. Crazy dog.

Black + White

Outfit Details: Top- Popbasic // Bow tie- Urban Outfitters // Skirt- Forever 21 // Tights- Target // Boots- Franco Sarto

Happy Friday, lovely people! Last night before I went to bed I could have sworn that it was Wednesday. Well turns out I was wrong! This week went by really fast... actually, this month did! Time flies when you're having fun, right?! Friday's are always good days though! I don't have any set plans for the weekend, but I do want to do something fun. Lets see what pops up! Do you guys have any special plans for the weekend?

Today was full of family fun and errands. I think I got a good start to my weekend already! This morning I went out for a walk, and then got ready to go to breakfast with my parents. My nephew joined us too, which always means a blast! Then off to run our errands we went. As soon as we were done, we celebrated with some frozen yogurt. I seriously love that stuff!

A flowy skirt probably wasn't the best decision for today, because it is so windy outside! This is why I decided to take some pictures indoors today. I also decided that black and white where the colors of the day! As you all know, I love print mixing! Whenever I mix prints, I have to throw a few polka dots in there too! Oh, and I love this bird skirt too! I don't think I've worn this skirt since the Summer! My Summer staples are coming out to play little by little.

I bought a Cannon AE-1 not too long ago, and I haven't gotten the chance to play with it yet. I'm thinking that I might get some parts that it's missing, and some film for it soon. I love playing with old cameras! I'm such a newbie at all this photography business. It really takes skill and creativity to be an amazing photographer! I hope one day I'll acquire half the skills of some amazing photographers I've seen! Last time I asked tips, I got some really good ones! Have any of you used a camera like this one? Anything I should know?

Well I'm off to continue my weekend fun! I hope you all have a lovely one!

Mama's Taco Salad

My mom has always been the queen of cooking, and she has shared some of her cooking secrets with me! I'm no culinary genius, but thanks to my mom I won't go hungry.

When I was growing up, tacos were my absolute favorite. My mom would make them with not only ground beef, but potatoes too! This is probably where my deep love for potatoes has rooted from. Just this past weekend, I made taco salads for my hubby and I. Of course, I documented it on Instagram! I got few recipe requests, so I thought I would share this super easy recipe with you guys!

Serving Size: 2

Ingredients:

1/2 pound of lean ground turkey
2 Del Oro Tostada Crowns
1/2 package of  McCormick Low Sodium Taco Seasoning
2 Small potatoes, chopped
1 can of Pinto beans
1/2 head of iceberg lettuce
2 tomatoes, chopped
1/2 cup of chopped fresh cilantro
1/2 cup of chopped onion
1 avocado, chopped
Reduced Fat Daisy Sour cream (to your liking)
Reduced Fat Sargento 4 Cheese Mexican Cheese (to your liking)
Salsa (to your liking, I like the Taco Bell Home Original sauce, but Pace or any other type can be used)

Directions:

1.  Cook the ground turkey and chopped potatoes in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Stir them together, and then stir in the taco seasoning. You will want to cover the pan, so that the potatoes will cook thoroughly.  Once they are finished, the potatoes will be soft and the meat will be browned.

2. In another pan, you will want to heat the pinto beans. You can also have these beans refried if you'd like.

3. Once your tostada crowns are ready, add the beans, lettuce, tomato, cilantro, avocado, and onion to them. Then you will want to add the meat and potatoes on top.

4. Top your salad with sour cream, cheese, and salsa.

As you guys can see, I LOVE cheese. I also like to use the reduced fat stuff, because it's just as good as the regular thing. It just makes me feel a little less guilty! I hope you guys enjoy this recipe! It's so easy and fast!

Do you guys have any dishes that you make that you happen to grow up with as well?

We also have a winner for the Scarlett Garnet giveaway!

 Congrats, Marsa!
A big thanks to everyone who participated!

Green Indeed

Outfit Details: Dress- FE U.S.A // Tights- Modcloth // Shoes- Bait Footwear

I've never been one to celebrate St. Patrick's day, but I decided wearing some green wouldn't hurt! I've been really into celebrating every holiday this year. So far, so festive! After all, green is slowly turning into one of my favorite Spring colors.

Speaking of green, my husband spied this little dress at the store and made me get it. Doesn't he have amazing taste?!  He's the best shopping buddy, and always breaks down my penny pinching ways. I've also been looking for a dress that has a vintage feel to it, and this fits the category. And it has polka dots! What more can I ask for?

Also, don't forget to enter the Scarlett Garnet giveaway! It ends tomorrow!

Birds Of A Feather

Outfit Details: Dress- Cotton On // Coat- Mine // Tights- J.Crew // Boots- Dirty Laundry

It's Monday, which means we are back to our productive ways! Today will be full of to-do lists and plans for the rest of the week. This weekend was lovely. I spent most of it at home relaxing, cooking, cleaning,  and watching movies with the hubby. I also plan on sharing some recipes of the things I cooked this weekend with you. I am way overdue on a recipe post!

As you can see by the looks of my hair, it has been windy in these parts of the world! I can't complain one bit though, because I am able to wear light dresses and walk out of the house without a sweater. It's nice. I absolutely love this dress! It always makes me think of the "Put a Bird On It" Portlandia episode! It was a perfect day to put a bird on it. If you haven't seen it, here it is:

Now, go put a bird on something!

Scarlett Garnet Giveaway

I am so excited to be partnering with Scarlett Garnet Jewelry to bring you this lovely giveaway!  The journey of Scarlett Garnet began in 2006, when Katie Miller and Garnet Griebel decided to become a team. Katie lived in Charleston, SC while Garnet lived in Kansas City, MO, but the miles could never stop them from producing beautiful jewelry. They would communicate solely through emails and by phone. In 2007, Katie moved back to Saint Louis, which is when they first met in person. There is still some distance between these two creative geniuses but they still manage to make it work. Their story is amazing, and shows us that the sky is the limit.

Scarlett Garnet jewelry is the perfect example of beautiful craftsmanship! Their pieces are so detailed and unique. They can be worn all year round, and go well with so many different outfits! I am absolutely in love with this Wood and Acrylic Chevron Necklace! This is a statement necklace that everyone needs in their jewelry box! I love the pop of color that the blue acrylic gives. The materials that it is paired with are perfect! I was also amazed by the beautiful packaging that their pieces are shipped in. Yet another gorgeous detail!
