DIY Cat Dress

I always run into the cutest and loveliest things on Instagram. I can say that I get a lot of inspiration from the people that I follow and the comments from the people who follow me too. Recently, I ran into a picture of the cutest baby leggings with little cats on them on Kelli Murray's lovely feed (@kelli_murray on IG. You must follow her!). She had stamped cats on her baby daughter's leggings. When I saw them, I knew that I had to try to do it on one of my dresses.

Important Notes:

I used acrilyic paint on my dress since that is what I had at hand, but you can use fabric paint if you want too.

Try to use thick fabric so that the paint won't go through. I used a really thin material and the paint went through, and made things a lot harder.

Things can get pretty messy, so use a cardboard box to work on so you don't make a mess of your floors.

Most importantly, have fun!

What's in my bag?

I've been wanting to do one of these posts for the longest time, and the only thing holding me back was all the junk I had in it! I'm sure you didn't want to see my mess of receipts, change, and wrappers. Well I finally got to cleaning it out, and now I can share what I carry around with me on a daily basis.

My favorite thing in my bag is my Danny Brito zipper pouch. That's where I carry my little makeup things. You must check out his Etsy shop! He is such an amazing artist, and he makes the cutest things!

When it comes to makeup, I'm really basic. I recently bought my first lipstick, and now I can't go anywhere without it. I've always been a big lip balm fan though. Soft Lips brand never fails me. I
also have my Sour Punch Straw lip balm to remind me of the old days where I used to be a Lipsmacker addict. My favorite mascara is Cover Girl lash blast volume. I've been using it for years!

I always have to have my specs with me, because I am a blind woman without them. Same goes with my wallet or I'm a poor woman without it.

If any of you have a "What's in my bag?" post on your blog, I'd love to see it! Link it to my comments bellow.

Hope you all have an amazing weekend!

Shapes & Colors

Even though yesterday was one of the coldest winter days, I decided to bust out the brightest things that I have in my closet. Unfortunately, it didn't make me any warmer!

As I've mentioned in one of my previous posts, I like to participate in the Coast To Coast Challenge on IG. Well the challenge yesterday was "geometric", and this was quite the challenge for me! I don't own a lot of geometric inspired clothes. However, when I was getting ready I remembered that I had purchased a Navajo inspired t-shirt not too long ago that had some geometric shapes going on. I'm also still moving, so a t-shirt was perfect! It's really colorful, which is why I love it so much! I've been wearing jeans a lot lately because I've been doing a lot of painting and cleaning. I wanted to change it up though so I wore my favorite red pleated skirt and big bird tights. Oh so comfy!

This has probably been the longest move ever! It feels never ending! I haven't had Internet for about a week now, and I've been blogging from my Blogger app. This is probably why my posts look so odd and are missing links and all that good stuff. Oh first world problems! Well this should all be over before New Years Eve. That is definitely a reason to celebrate!

Pop out with Popbasic

If it involves polka dots, I am in! Popbasic has an amazing micro collection launching very soon. Not only does it involve an adorable polka dot top, but it also includes two beautiful necklaces. Popbasic is looking to help us ladies keep up with the latest trends while looking as classy as can be.

You can order this micro collection at popbasic.com. They also throw in a beauty or lifestyle surprise in all their orders. Sounds like a deal to me!

Bellow is an outfit created by me with the Popbasic top. Of course I had to throw a little red bow somewhere in there.

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas, lovely people! I hope you all are having an amazing time with your families! That's what this time of year is all about.

Even though we're still in the midst of moving, we went out on a little Christmas dinner date with mom and dad last night. We had such a great time! Then we came home, watched a movie, and beat Santa to our Red Velvet cake. So glad the hubby built the couches yesterday. We got to enjoy it all in our cozy little living room.

I hope you all continue to enjoy your Christmas! Enjoy your families and those you love the most!

Glimpses of my move

 1. It is mandatory to be comfy while moving. The weather outside is frightful so I have been bundled up lately. I live in sweaters. This sweater in particular is my favorite though. It's so comfy and warm.

2. Packing has helped me come to the realization that I have a problem. I think I really like shoes or something.

 3. Moving is no fun, but moving during the holidays is even worst. We had to take down our Christmas tree and decorations early, but we decided that this would be our new tree for this year. Nice and simple.

4. Here are a few of my favorite things that I own: my record player, my vinyls, and my Mickey Mouse jar. They are all ready to go to their new home. I am actually really excited to decorate this new place. I have so many new decorating ideas. I look through a lot of blogs for inspiration, and I have found some projects that I can't wait to try!

5. Rigby helps us move by being entertaining and cute.

6. A girl needs to eat! Actually when I ordered this, I didn't expect to be served such a monster. It was delicious, but there was no way I could eat this in one sitting. I seriously felt like I was in a food challenge. Woman vs. Food.

 7. Best way to end my day.

Playlist of the week

This week has been quite hectic with all this moving business. We've been moving boxes (well more my husband and dad), cleaning, and painting all week. I'd rather be baking cookies, but I'm thankful for a roof over my head. I'm also thankful for an awesome playlist that has gotten us through painting three rooms. We pretty much had a painting dance party thanks to this playlist! These songs are sure to make you dance your way through a long day.

1. Kennedy - Karate

2. Hanni El Khatib -You Rascal you

3. Andrew Bird - Minor Stab

4. Say Anything - Woe

5. The Virgins - Rich Girls

6. Miike Snow - Black and Blue

7. Empire of The Sun - Walking On a Dream

8. Passion Pit - Take a Walk

9. OMC - How Bizarre

10. The Whitest Boy Alive - Fireworks

Can you see why we were able to paint so much now? Upbeat is the way to go when you gotta get 'er done. Here I am so proud of our painting skills. We still have a whole lotta work to do this weekend, but hopefully we'll be able to sit back and relax by Monday. Three days until Christmas! Yay! So excited to spend time with the whole family in our new little place! Have a great weekend, lovelies!

Heart sweater D.I.Y

I like hearts. I like sweaters. But I LOVE heart sweaters. So I decided to turn one of my overly basic sweaters into my new favorite sweater. This D.I.Y project was really easy, and it could be done on any top you wish to transform in your closet.
A few things you will need: Sweater (or any top you decide to use), Fabric (Size I used: 11"x9", You can make it bigger or smaller depending on the size you prefer), scissors, pins, embroidery thread and embroidery needle.

Step 1: You will need to cut your fabric into a heart. You can use a piece of cardboard as a stencil if you'd like.

Step 2: Place the heart on the upper part of your sweater, and put pins on it to keep your heart from moving.
Step 3: You will need quite a bit of thread to get around the whole heart. So make sure you have enough thread on your needle before you start.

Step 4: Knot your thread on the end, and start stitching your way around the heart. You can also do this on a sewing machine. If you're going for a more handmade look, hand sewing it is the way to go.
Step 5:  Once you have stitched all around the heart, make sure that the stitching will stay in tact by creating another knot. Now you're all done!

Here's the finished product! I felt like I was wearing a brand new sweater! I love the print of the fabric I decided to use as well! I have all of my favorite things in this outfit: bows, polka dots, chevrons, and hearts. Another thing I thought would be really awesome for this project is if metallic embroidery thread was used. I've seen this thread at craft stores like Joann and Micheal's. If you end up transforming one of your sweaters, I would love to see it! Link it to the comments or tag me on IG (@littleredbowtique)!

Getting With The Times

I have seen so many bloggers write on their pictures and I always wondered how they did it. Well I finally tried it! As you can see, I still need some practice on my handwriting on my tablet. This took me the longest time to do! I did it around 5 times because I kept trying to save it, and then I couldn't find it once it was saved. Lets just say I'm not very tech savvy. Well after 5 mini heart attacks here is a picture with my writing on it.

I wrote one of my favorite lyrics on this picture. It comes from "Walk Away" by Ben Harper. Great song.

Anyway, I hope you all are having a great weekend! I am in the process of moving so that is what my weekend and coming week will consist of. We all know the joys of moving. Wish me luck!

Leftover Wrapping Paper Ideas

I can imagine that many of you have already started wrapping your Christmas gifts. I just started today, and I still have quite a few to go. I probably won't wrap those until the day before Christmas since procrastination is in my nature. Anyway, today when I was finished wrapping some gifts I noticed that I had a lot of wrapping paper leftover. So I thought of a few ways that this pretty paper won't go to waste.

1. Make a present bow.

Step 1: Cut the leftover wrapping paper into small strips. If you want to make a bigger bow, you can cut it into bigger strips as well.

Step 2: Fold the strips into a ring.

Step 3: Then you will stack these strips on top of each other. I started by placing them into a cross. Then I placed two more diagonally. It'll start looking more like a bow now.

Final result: In the end, the bow should look a bit like this (or maybe even better).

2. Make a gift tag.

To make a gift tag, all you will need is wrapping paper, card stock, glue, and string. All I did was cut both my wrapping paper and card stock into a square. Then I glued them together. The card stock keeps the wrapping paper from folding or rolling up. I didn't have a hold punch, so I used a needle to make a hole on the top of the gift tag. Once you have a hole, you put the string through it and you're set!

3. Make a Christmas card.

Making a Christmas card is much like making a gift tag, except it's just a bit bigger. The first step is to cut both the wrapping paper and card stock into a big square. Then you glue them together. Once they are glued together, you fold this square in half. Now you have a Christmas card! I decorated the inside with the left over wrapping paper as well. There is so much you can do with these scraps!

There is just something special about handmade goodies, especially during Christmas time! I hope these ideas come in handy for you! Just get creative, and don't let that pretty paper go to waste! If you have anymore leftover wrapping paper ideas, tell us! The more the merrier!

The Pros of Cold Weather

If you're not already participating in the Coast to Coast Challenge on Instagram, you should start now! It is so much fun! Every Tuesday and Thursday, there is a certain challenge that is given. People from all over the world participate in this. All you have to do is dress the part and hashtag #coasttocoastchallenge on your picture. It's really awesome to see all the brilliant looks that these ladies come up with! Yesterday the challenge was "layers".

Wearing layers was just what I needed to do yesterday. It was fa-reez-ing cold! I am really enjoying this weather though. I have lots of clothes that I wear all year round. Now all I have to do is add a scarf and a cardigan to them, and I'm set. Busting out the things that I can't wear all year round is the most exciting part though! The coats and boots get to come out of storage and play for a while.

Speaking of Winter, there is one thing I cannot give up no matter cold it gets. That is frozen yogurt! I will eat froyo, and I will freeze if I have to! I am pretty addicted to that stuff.

So what is your favorite part about Winter?
