Sweet Sound

Outfit details: Dress- Sweet Symphony Dress c/o Paint the Town // Belt- Another Line // Shoes- Preview

Music has been a love of mine ever since I can remember. I especially love when a song comes on and it takes you back to a moment. I have lots of great memories that involve music. When I was about 9 years old, my sister and I would record ourselves singing on cassettes. My favorite recording was when we sang Every Morning by Sugar Ray. There were lots of laughs and goofy memories made during those recordings. I also love coming home to my guitar after a long day at work. Such a great way to wind down and just relax.

So when I saw this dress, I felt like it was made for me! I'm a sucker for cute prints, and Paint the Town totally nailed it with this simple yet playful print. This dress is so comfortable so it will be perfect for work. I spend most of my life at work, which is why comfort is such a priority for me. I also love that it can be fancied up with a pair of heels for a night out with my sweetheart. Oh and last but definitely not least, it has pockets! A dress with pockets beats a regular ol' dress any day! I know all of you ladies can agree with me.

Well I am off to wait for the hubby to get off of work so we can go on a dinner date. We'll probably come home and do some puzzles since that is what we've been into these days. Then tomorrow I plan on doing a whole lotta nothing and maybe some thrifting. This has been such a long week so sleeping in and doing nothing is much appreciated. Hope you all have a lovely weekend!

So Far in 2014

Hello lovelies! Long time no see! It's been a whole 7 months since I have posted on here, and I have so much to update you guys on. I decided to do a recap of what I've been up to lately (last two months) since that's when all of the fun stuff began.

One of my new years resolutions was to go on more adventures with Jon, and as soon as January started I already had a list ready to go. California is full of beautiful places. So I'm hoping that this year, I'll be able to get to know my home state a lot better. We also plan on visiting Oregon and Washington since I've heard nothing but amazing things about these places.

Our first adventure was in January, and the destination was Monterrey, CA. I had been here a few times before as a kid, and I loved it! Jon was a first-timer, and I was so excited to introduce him to this beaut. We, of course, did all of the touristy stuff. We went to Cannery Row, and there we visited our friends at the aquarium. Remember, fish are friends not food. Later that day, we took the 17 mile drive. The homes we saw on the 17 mile drive were amazing, and with a perfect view too. We are pretty much convinced that we need to move to Monterrey. When we win the lotto, of course. We then stopped at Spanish Bay, and saw the sun go down while we walked on beach. The next day we visited Carmel. We saw the cutest dogs on the beach, and really regretted not taking Rigby with us. He would have loved it!

Next stop, San Francisco, CA! We've been to SF so many times, but never to sight-see. Jon went to college there for about a year and a half, and never really got to get any enjoyment out of such a neat place. We had a few troubles getting to the fun part of this trip thanks to tolls, buses, and crazy pedestrians and drivers. Eventually, we learned that a cab was the way to go. We finally got to the Golden Gate bridge after a good hour of being lost. A big thank you to all the little old ladies on the bus that really helped us find our way! It was all worth it though! The Golden Gate Bridge is such a beautiful sight to see! We wanted to go on the Alcatraz tour, but they were booked. Not a surprise. After we walked across the bridge and enjoyed the gorgeous view, we walked around Pier 39. I got a glimpse of the bush man startling some folks. We didn't get to do as much as we wanted to on this trip, but hope to go back and get the rest of the stuff off of our bucket list soon.

The next day we decided to venture out to Point Reyes, CA. It was around an hour away from San Francisco. So we thought, why the heck not?! Plus, I had been wanting to go there for the longest time! This place is pure amazing. I don't recommend going there on an empty stomach (like yours truly did) since there is a lot of physical activity involved. This place is not only one of the most gorgeous places I'd ever to, but also one of the most interesting places. There is a lot of history to this place, and it has been well preserved. I really wanted to see the lighthouse, and it was the first lighthouse I had ever seen in person. As you can see by my photo, the wind was absolutely insane! You also have to go down about 300 steps (equivalent to 30 stories) to get the lighthouse. The going down was not the problem for me, it was the going up that had me gaspin' for air! I'm outta shape, and I'm doing something about that in 2014 too. Anyway, this place is gorgeous and if you're in California you MUST visit! Plus, you'll see Elk, Elephant Seals, and the prettiest trees there!

I really hope to not be such a stranger anymore! I miss this little corner on the web! Also, if you lovelies know of any places that I should add to my "must visit" places, please share! I would love to hear your experiences!

My Go-to Colors

Outfit Details: Dress- One Clothing, Shoes- Madden Girl, Headband- Modcloth, Purse- Thrifted

I could not stay away from the snooze button on my alarm this week, which led to me racing against the clock to get ready for work. 10 minutes of sleeping in definitely puts a dent on my getting ready routine of showering, blow drying my hair, applying makeup, curling my hair, and choosing my outfit. Dry shampoo can only save me for a day! Anyway, I came to find that I wore lots of black and white this week. I've always been a fan of black and white. I'm pretty sure my love for these colors started when I watched 101 Dalmatians when I was 6. Who knew that Cruella De Vil could be anyone's fashion inspo?! Like Cruella, my go-to colors are black and white. Sure, I would never hurt a puppy to make myself a coat, but you catch my drift! Black and white are such classic and easy colors to style. Black and white prints are what I usually gravitate towards: polka dots, stripes, chevrons, gingham, you name it! I also love the fact that you can wear it with any other color. Black and white makes life easy, and that's why I love it so much.

I let my black and white streak continue for the weekend as well. This dress is a new addition to my black and white collection, and I'm sure it will save me one of these mornings when I decide to take another snoozer. Anyway, this weekend has been swell. We didn't have any particular plans this weekend so we just got in the car and improvised. We ended up at Target to stock up on necessities. Of course, the whole time I was there I tried to avoid their amazing clearance aisles full of cute things I don't need. I was a good girl. Then we went to Trader Joes where all the damage was done. Needless to say, I had a lovely macaron filled evening. Thank you, Trader Joes.

Beach Dreaming

Outfit details: Hat- Borrowed from Mom, Top- Miley Cyrus & Max Azria, Dress- Monteau, Shoes- Target

My weekends are days that I cherish. Who doesn't cherish sleeping in & fun adventures with lovely people? We spent most of our Saturday indoors, A/C at full blast, and watching crime shows, The Big Bang Theory, and prison shows in our PJ's. However, after a few hours of being lazy butts we decided that we needed a little bit of outdoor Summer vibes. By the looks of my outfit, I was ready to go to the beach but instead I went on a grocery run with Jon to get Pico de Gallo paletas (popsicles). Paletas are our addiction every summer along with watermelon, frozen yogurt, and iced coffee drinks.

This weekend I decided to borrow this fabulous hat from my momma. It's such a sweet Summer piece! So perfect for the beach! My mom is definitely one of my fashion inspirations. The pieces in her closet are so classy and timeless. I blame her for my love of cardigans and shoes. Speaking of shoes, I decided to bring out my floral wedges for the first time this year. My feet are usually in closed toed shoes from Monday to Friday, so it was nice to give my feet some fresh air and a tan!

Today I went on a little adventure with Jon and my mom. We road-tripped it to the Bay Area to see where Jon will be start working soon. He's definitely pumped and I'm so very excited for him too! We're so motivated for the future, and are so excited for what God has in store for us. What a perfect way to end the weekend!

I am off to get recharged for tomorrow! I hope you all have an amazing and productive week! ♥

Sweet Sunday.

Sunday was definitely fun day. We had my nephew Levi with us this Sunday, and we had so much fun. It's always a blast when that kiddo is around. We went to Funworks, which is like a mini golf/arcade/go kart deal. We attempted to play some putt putt golf, but it was unbearably hot outside. So we stayed in the arcade trying to get some tickets to win Levi a Cars toy he had his eye on. Lightning McQueen is his homeboy. I also found out that he loves Skee Ball just like his auntie. He was not having the kiddie games! Such a lovely day with the family. I am so blessed to have these people in my life.

So how are you all recovering from this weekend? Gosh, waking up this morning was such a challenge for me. I had gotten so used to sleeping in until 9 and staying in my PJ's all day. It's easy to get used to the good life. Lucky for me, there's such thing as dry shampoo! Those extra 20 minutes of sleep made all of the difference. I definitely needed that break. Now I'm back to reality and that's okay too. Money don't grow on trees, and I am so blessed to have a job during these hard times.

Well this week is going to be a busy one, which should also make it a fast one. I'm looking forward to Friday. I get outta work early on Friday! Woo hoo! These are the kinds of things I look forward to all week. Anyway, I hope you all have a great week!

A Little Rusty

Outfit Details: Top- Tucker For Target, Dress- Thrifted, Belt- Forever 21, Shoes- Minnetonka Moccasin Co.

Funny how easy it is to forget how to do things once you haven't done them for a while. This explains why it took me a too long to get this post together. I'm a little rusty. Not that I was ever an expert at codes and blogging at all! Since it's a four day weekend and Jon is at work, I thought "Why not do a little bit of updating?!" I got my Cannon outta the closet, turned it on, and then thought "Uhhhh.... I know how to do this!" I had forgotten how to take pictures. What is up with my brain?! But like riding a bike, I remembered and got to snappin'. Same with this whole coding deal. I guess I'm gonna have to lessen my after-work-telly-watching sessions to stay on top of these things.

So I decided to match with the state of my skills last night, and wore rust details to warm up my gray dress. I felt like being comfortable for date night so I paired it with my Minnetonka Booties. My Minnetonkas are my favorite. They are the comfiest shoes I own, they're simple, cute, and they match with everything! Not much has changed when it comes to my polka dot obsession. You can add any print to a simple dress to make it pop. Polka dots just always happen to be my first choice.

I haven't done much shopping lately, just a little bit of thrifting here and there. We're all guilty of having something in the closet that never gets worn. I'm trying to rid myself of this bad habit and get creative with what I already own. So far I've been doing pretty good.

Well I'm off to do some weekend thrifting! Wish me luck!

Lately.

As you guys have probably noticed, I've been out for quite some time. My last post was in April, and we are already in July! However, I've been meaning to dust off my camera and laptop to update you all. Luckily, I've had my iPhone at hand during these last few months! I've been absent on my blog, but you can't keep me away from Instagram. I update that thing quite often. It's just so convenient for a lazy bum like me!

Last night I stayed up late catching up with my favorite blogs, and gosh did it make me miss posting! Lately, my life has been wake up, work, eat, sleep, and repeat. What's so interesting about that, right?! I've failed to notice all of the fun and eventful things that have happened in between of what I call mundane. It hasn't been all work and no play!

Last month we made a trip to Disneyland and had a blast. We were there for the weekend with my family. I saw radiator Springs, and almost felt like I was in front of the Grand Canyon. I loved seeing my nephew's reactions to all of his favorite characters too. Disneyland is much funner when you're a kid or when you're with one. Despite the long lines, I got on all of the best rides. And Of course, I overdosed on sweets while I was there. The candy apple made me do it!

Summer has made it's grand appearance in California. I have done my fair share of complaining about the 108 degree weather, but I have been enjoying the longer days. I've been sporting the top knot much more than usual, and have been bringing out the Summer apparel little by little. Road trips, frozen yogurt, evening bike rides, and bright colors. I always find something to love about every season.

What's your favorite thing about Summer?

Well I'm off to do some cleaning and then continue my lovely four day weekend. Hope you all have a wonderful one!
